Georgetown has been attracting visitors since its beginnings in 1859.  Back then, it was just a mine camp.  Now, it is a beautiful town surrounded by the Rocky Mountains.

There is plenty to do in Georgetown.  Visitors can go fishing, hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding.  There’s plenty of shopping to do on 6th street and hungry guests can get their fill of great quality food too.  Visitors can take self guided walking tours of the town–just stop at the Visitor Center for more information. Guests are advised to spend some time at the Gateway Visitor Center or Downtown Visitor Center to learn all about the activities and events that the town has to offer.

On May 28th and 29th, the town will be celebrating Mining and Railroad Days.  There will be plenty of food and fun for the entire family.  Take a ride on the historic Georgetown Loop Railroad, or tour the rail yard or the Lebanon Silver Mine.  You can also enjoy burro rides, participate in an obstacle course, or go rafting on Clear Creek.

On Memorial Day weekend, Guanella Pass will be opened.  For more information on the pass, stop in at the Visitors Center to pick up maps.  Call for current road conditions and closures at 303-569-3251 ext 2.

June 17th, visitors can watch the Ride the Rockies Bike tour.  Registration is closed, but bikers will finish up the 400 mile ride in Georgetown.  Come and celebrate the end of the tour.

On June 25th,  the Slackers Half Marathon will be held.  This marathon is the highest downhill half marathon in the country.  The race begins at the Loveland Ski area and ends in historic Georgetown. Proceeds from the race benefits local charities.  For more information on registration, call 303-519-0357 or go to www.slackerhalfmarathon.com.
