If you’re a fan of the movie, “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” then you ought to know that part of the movie was filmed in Colorado’s Glenwood Canyon. Glenwood Canyon is situated between Glenwood Springs and Gypsum, CO about three hours west of Denver.
This is a popular location for hikers to hike up to beautiful Hanging Lake or for camping in Hanging Lake. Parking is situated at the base along the Colorado River and round trip to the lake is approximately two miles long.
Hanging Lake was closed for the last three months in order for a $1.2 million renovation project to be underway. Some of the renovations include replacing the boardwalk and fixing up some of the trails.
The highway along Glenwood Canyon was one of the last sections of the Colorado interstate highway built with never-before-used construction methods. It is designed on two tiers so that drivers can better appreciate the beautiful views of the canyon.
This is also a popular spot for rafters to adventure along the Colorado River. There are plenty of outdoor activities to do in the area. For those who love spelunking, the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park & Historic Fairy Caves are nearby in Glenwood Springs to explore. Glenwood is a fun getaway in Colorado for the entire family no matter what their tastes.
