Sushi Sasa is a sushi restaurant located at 2401 15th Street in Denver, Colorado, offering “new style” and traditional Japanese cuisine under a single roof. The restaurant was founded after several years of careful observation, tireless study and hard work by some of the most impressive culinary minds in the world. Chef Wayne Conwell and the team aim to move sushi forward and represent the evolution of sushi.

By combining unconventional influences from France, Italy and other parts of the world and integrating traditions of Japanese cuisine, the restaurant has taken a progressive method mixing West Coast charm and East Coast innovation. While Sushi Sasa is keen on maintaining Japanese heart, its menu boasts traditional and new menu to satisfy its customers’ cravings.

Within a year of its opening, Sushi Sasa has received various awards including the best sushi restaurant by CitySearch, The Rocky Mountain News and Westword. It is also one of the 1,500 restaurants featured in the Zagat review of leading American restaurants. Sushi Sasa is also listed by the Gabby Gourmet as the only Japanese restaurant “to die for.”

The seasonal, affordable and healthy tasting menu compliments its functioning sushi bar, which bridges the gap between the West coast charm and East coast innovation. The bar, located at the rear of the zen-like room, is manned by friendly bilingual chefs. With an exhaustive list of wine and wonderful sake including various premium bottles, plus a comfortable downstairs lounge, the restaurant is ideal for a great dinner with family and friends and business lunch.

Sushi Sasa is a well-hidden sushi spot filled with faintly lit pale-wooden tables. Its sushi – toro, silken scallops or yellowtail – is splendidly fresh, while its hot dishes like the Chilean sea bass are also excellent. If you have the urge to indulge, try the omakase, a multi-course tasting menu that will make you feel like you are in Tokyo. To save money, try its two-for-one hot sake, discounted hand rolls, California rolls and shrimp sushi.

Sushi Sasa is open every Monday to Saturday from 11:30 to 2:30 for lunch and Sunday to Thursday from 5:00 to 10:30 and 5:00 to 12:00 from Friday to Saturday for dinner. The restaurant also has take-out services and off-site catering. It has a private dining room available for parties of 18 or more people, and shared party rooms for parties of 10 or more people. Reservations for a table or for the sushi bar can be made each night.
