Colorado International School (CoIS) is a multicultural school founded in 2005. CoIS was established out of the experiences of families seeking a unique way of educating children in a multilingual and multinational school environment without the need to adhere to rigid national curricula of different countries. It offers an American-International curriculum, history and culture.

The school integrates the learning standards set out by the Colorado State Department of Education, thus, ensuring high achievement in standardized tests and examinations among students. It also hopes to integrate curriculum from the IBO Middle Years Program and Primary Years Program for three- to 14-year old students. These programs are effective in developing a world perspective in all students and delivering remarkable academic standards.

Colorado International School offers immersion programs for grade one to eight students. It provides core academic subjects such as language arts, math, sciences and social studies for primary language development and second language acquisition, as well as incorporates the arts, world P.E., athletics and digital technology. It takes advantage of its position in the Rocky Mountain area to offer space science, engineering and astronomy options to middle and elementary school students. A member of the Jane Goodall Foundation, it also offers studies based on the Roots and Shoots environmental science curriculum of Goodall. The program also offers unique opportunities for civic education and community service, which are important to the school’s programs.

CoIS offers language immersion programs in English, Farsi, French, German, Mandarin and Spanish. Its day program presently offers four major language streams wherein students are immersed in Spanish, French, German and Mandarin Chinese from ages three to six. It limits the use of English language inside the classroom since it is already the dominant language.

The school offers engaging and fun language immersion summer students for three- to 18-year-old students. It conducts two week language-immersion camps in Spanish, German, French, Russian, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Farsi, Arabic and Italian for kids in the pre-kindergarten. All camps offer various linguistic, culinary, cultural, athletic and artistic activities with monthly themes. It offers special mountain camps in the Colorado Rocky Mountains for campers seven years old. Sleep-away camps at YMCA of the Rockies are also offered for seven to 18 year-olds.

CoIS parents are members of the PTSO. The school invites and encourages everyone to take part in various events and activities hosted by PTSO. Areas of welcomed support for the school include library organization, weekly clean-up of microwave in lunch room, fundraising events and greenhouse build project.
