As a city that puts a lot of emphasis on sports, Denver is considered one of the very few cities that has many professional teams. Besides Philadelphia, Denver has 8 professional sports teams with 4 of them playing in the major leagues. In addition to that, it has some new sports stadiums: the Pepsi Center and the Glendale Rugby Stadium. Denver hosted four professional teams from 1995 where each one of them plays in a major league like: the Nuggets (NBA), Rockies (MLB), Broncos (NFL), and Avalanche (NHL).
Denver also has many sports stadiums, these are considered some of the best in the country. They are:
1- Pepsi Center: This center is not actually the biggest, but it hosts various events from musical tours to sports finals. It was built in 1999.
2- Infinity Park: Opened in 2007, this stadium has hosted many national and international rugby tournaments. If you are a rugby fan, you will be happy to know about Infinity Park.
3- Invesco Field at Mile High: This multipurpose stadium is considered as the biggest in Denver from a seating capacity perspective with more than 70,000 seats. It has been in operation as Invesco Field since 2001 and is the home of the Denver Broncos.
There is no point in talking about Denver’s sports without actually highlighting its professional teams, so here we go – these are the four that play in the major leagues:
1- Denver Nuggets: This NBA team plays at the Pepsi Center.
2- Colorado Rockies: As Denver is considered a sports city, it has made a huge effort to bring MLB into the mix in the ‘90s. This team plays home games at Coors Field, where the season begins in April and ends in September.
3- Denver Broncos: This famous NFL team has probably the highest number of fans compared to other teams. It plays at Invesco Field at Mile High.
4- Colorado Avalanche: This NHL hockey team plays in the Pepsi Center and attracts many loyal fans. It is also considered one of the best teams in the NHL.
Denver doesn’t only have these professional teams; it has many other teams such as the Colorado Mammoth, which plays in the NLL, the Denver Barbarians (known as the Barbos) which plays in the RSL and don’t forget the Denver Outlaws , which also play at the Invesco Field.
