The Twisted Pine Brewing Company was started in 1995 by Gordon Knight after he bough some Belgium brewing equipment. He initially started by brewing 3 draft products including American Amber Ale, Honey Brown Ale, and Raspberry Wheat Ale. Gordon made 100% natural, unpasteurized malt ales. His brews earned him many medals over the years including 7 Colorado State Fair medals, 6 Great American Beer Festival Medals and 2 World Beer medals.
Gordon sold his products to restaurants and then to liquor stores when he began to bottle his ales in 22 ounce sizes. In 1996, he sold the company to Bob Baile. Bob began selling 12 ounce 6 packs and added new beer styles to the menu. In 2003, the company outgrew its old facility and moved to the current building on Walnut Street in Boulder, CO. This bigger facility allowed the company to open up an ale house in the brewery.
The Ale House is a relaxed place where friends can meet to talk or share some drinks. It is open weekdays from 11am to 9 pm. Saturday hours are 12 pm to 9 pm and Sunday hours are 12 pm to 8 pm. Happy hour is Monday through Friday from 11 am to 5 pm. Bring in 3 canned items to donate to the hungry in the area and you’ll get a free pint as a thank you.
On Cinco De Mayo, the Ale House will be releasing two new types of beer. The Ghost Face is a 6 peppered beer that has Ghost Peppers in the brew. Ghost peppers are regarded as one of the hottest peppers in the world. Holy Mole, a beer made using chocolate chili beans, will also be released on that day. Stop by the Ale House for some homemade chili and to try the new beer types.
Once only available in Colorado, The Twisted Pine Brewing company has started selling its beer in Texas, Louisiana, and Missouri. For more information on the Ale House or on the Twisted Pine Brewing Company, check out the website at http://twistedpinebrewing.com/ or call 303-690-0662.
