Denver, Colorado… What exactly is so special about the city? Apart from the major gateway to the Rocky Mountains and Colorado’s excellent ski slopes, Denver is also a cultural mecca in the midwest and home to one of the nation’s top ten roadside attractions, Casa Bonita, a Mexican themed restaurant and entertainment center in the City of Lakewood, just a few miles from downtown Denver.
Casa Bonita is a theme restaurant with a difference. It’s huge with over 1000 seats in several rooms totaling over 52,000 square feet. For over thirty years the restaurant has been serving top quality Mexican styled food including all the favorites such as tacos, enchladas, refried beans, burritos, guacamole, nachos, and fajitas.
The restaurant also stocks a full selection of Mexican premium beers and traditional casarita served by the mug or liter. Of course Casa Bonita hasn’t stayed in business without also ensuring pricing is set to entice diners, after all, with 1000 seats to fill every day, customers are going to demand excellent value for money.
Opened in 1974, Casa Bonita is unique and worth seeing even if you decide not to dine. The entire structure took a year to complete since so much of the restaurant was imported from Mexico or required special expertise to make. The pink tower is 85 feet tall, and the dome on the roof of the tower, with the statue of Quahuatomec the last emperor of the Aztec is made with 22 karat gold leaf. Out front, the fountain had to be shipped in several pieces from a stonemason in Mexico.
Inside Casa Bonita you’ll marvel at the 30 foot high waterfall made to seem as if you’re in Acapulco looking at the famous cliffs and divers entertain as they jump to the pool below. While you’re eating our mariachi performers will seranade you and your party, and kids can play in the amusement arcade.
Children are what make Casa Bonita special without whom the ambience just wouldn’t exist. Mexicans are proudly family oriented, and Casa Bonita is no different, the restaurant welcomes families with children, and even offers special meal packs like the Fiesta Funpack with a meal, pinata breaking, a visit to the treasure room, and even a behind the scenes tour.
