The Denver Style Expo was held April 1st and April 2nd, 2011 at the Denver Merchandise Mart Expo Hall. The Expo, Denver’s largest event ever to feature local fashion, fashion designs, style and beautu, was hosted by Dana Cain Events.
Organizer Dana Cain says that Denver’s fashion scene is “exploding”. Dana also points out that Denver has some of the best fashion designers and stylists in the nation. The Denver Style Expo is simply a way to celebrate these things as well as a way to have fun according to the organizer. Dana asserts that there was something for everyone at the event from jaw dropping high fashion events to incredible funny and crazy fashions as well. “Who doesn’t enjoy the wild and crazy stuff too,” says Dana.
The Expo featured over 80 exhibitors and vendor booths, hourly runway fashion shows, makeover stations, workshops, and contests. Special guests at the event were local reality TV stars Mondo Guerra from Project Runway, Nina Flowers from Ru Paul‘s Drag Race, and Charlie Price from Shear Genius. Those who attended the event were able to mingle with the stars at meet and greet events conducted on Friday and Saturday.
Workshops at the event included sessions on using jewelry to add style to an average outfit and finding stylish fashions for fuller figures. There were also workshops on how to wear a hat as well as a workshop on how to capture the “vintage beauty queen” look.
In addition, expo attendees learned about fashion accessories, wigs, costume jewelry and current bridal fashions. Attendees also learned how to apply make up as well as hair styling tips. Booths on fashion accessories, special looks, shoes, handbags, handmade jewelry and skin treatments were also enjoyed by those who attended. A makeover booth allowed event goers to experiment and try out different looks. The public that attended the event also got to vote on the Denver Style Awards and the People‘s Choice awards too.
Admission to the event, which started at 6 pm on Friday was $10 per day or $15 for both days. Tickets could be purchased online or at the door of the event. Children under 12 could enter the expo for free. A $1 of each ticket was donated to the Colorado Aids Project. The event was sponsored by Denver Daily News, This Week In Denver, Vitamin Water.com, and Mulberries.
