What is Cinco de Mayo? It is celebrated by Latinos and non-Latinos in the US and throughout Mexico. It is the celebration of Mexican freedom and tradition. In the year of 1862 on May 5th the Mexican army defeated the French army providing the energy and confidence to push foreign power from their country. It is the celebration of the people and the struggle for freedom in Mexico.
Cinco de Mayo is soon upon us. It will bring you in touch with the Hispanic community. It is sponsored by all kinds of retail businesses. Individual exhibitors or small businesses that are offering original art work, clothing, jewelry and accessories, sunglasses, henna and air brush artists, face painters, imports and gift ideas and so forth are also welcome at the Cindo de Mayo Denver event. People selling food items must obtain the appropriate license through the Department of Environmental Health and the Denver Fire Department. If you are a non-profit organization, you must show your proof of non-profit status.
There will be parades, vendors selling food, the NBA National Tour, three stages of live entertainment including folklorico dance, mariachi, local bands and more, a children’s carnival, Calle King Soopers, lowriders, a Ram Dodge Exhibit, green chili cook-off, live radio broadcasts, and much more.
