Downtown Denver boasts one of the largest independent bookstores in the United States, the Tattered Cover Book Store. The first Tattered Cover was built in 1973 and currently there are two others in the Denver area, a book lover’s heaven.
This Tattered Cover on 16th Street in Denver has a huge indoor space filled with antique furnishings and plenty of seating. There are even vintage desks to use in the center of the bookstore. Among the large selection of new books are used books, gift cards, stationary and other gifts. Many authors come to Denver’s Tattered Cover for book signings including Christopher Moore, Yann Martel, Gary Paulsen, Katherine Howe and Harlen Coben.
