There’s no doubt that Colorado is big on bicycles. We do have the influence of the Boulder community, Farmer’s Markets, wind turbines, hybrid vehicles and recycling centers in the Denver area. Just check out all the upcoming bicycling events in September alone!

Bicycle Film Festival
September 9, 2010 @ 7 p. m.
Celebrate the glory that is the bicycle through film, arts and culture along with fashion, music, road racing, biking, fixed gear, BMX and bike polo. This event takes place at the Starz Film Center in Denver. Tickets are $10-$30 but are sold out. www.bicyclefilmfestival.com

Tour de Fat
September 11, 2010 @ 9 a.m.
New Belgium Brewing’s 11th Tour de Fat through 13 cities. Celebrate traveling via bicycle to raise money for philanthropy while increasing awareness of bike transportation and commit to a year of car-free living. Riders are encouraged to dress up in costumes or decorate their bikes. Musical acts will take place on a solar-powered stage decorated with recycled materials pulled by trucks using biofuel. It is important to keep in mind that this is NOT an anti-car rally. This event takes place through Denver City Park. www.newbelgium.com

Buffalo Bicycle Classic
September 13, 2010
Participate in a 35-mi, 65-mi or 100-mi bike ride to raise money for the University of Colorado at Boulder’s College of Arts & Sciences. Start and finish at CU while riding through Boulder and Larimer counties. www.buffalobicycleclassic.com

Good Sam Bike Jam
September 19, 2010
Choose from four bike routes up Lefthand Canyon to Jamestown, CO. There is a new 100-mile route that continues to the town of Raymond. All proceeds go towards the Cardiac Care Fund at Exempla Good Samaritan Medical Center in Lafayette, CO.

Tour of the Vineyards
September 16-19, 2010
A Bacchus celebration with 1,000 cyclists touring Colorado’s Wine Country on the Western Slope followed by a “Festival in the Park” at 11 a.m. www.coloradowinefest.com

Second Annual Ride for Sight
September 26, 2010
This is a 72-mi ride from The Orchard Town Center in Westminster, CO to Brighton, Mead, Johnstown, Loveland and back. Donations to OneSight help provide eye exams and glasses to people all over the world. www.coloradorideforsight.org
