8th Annual Sunnyside Music Festival in Denver

September 10, 2010 – Gather around at Chaffee Park in Denver tomorrow for the 8th Annual Sunnyside Music Festival at 44th & Tejon. Free music in the park among friends and neighbors was the goal of a couple in 2000 when they started the Sunnyside Bluegrass Festival. They hosted the event in their backyard with 2 bands, 2 kegs, 50 people and 20 dogs.

Since then the festival has quickly grown in popularity but took a hiatus after 2004 for a couple of years because the original couple moved away. A new couple started it back up again in 2007 and now the Sunnyside Music Festival in Denver has a permanent home at Chaffee Park every year on the Saturday after Labor Day. This event would not be possible without the sponsorship of local businesses and volunteers. A portion of the proceeds is donated back to the community every year. Sunnyside has donated about $5,000 to date.
