Shen Yun Performing Arts will grace Denver with their beautiful performances of classical Chinese dance and music March 19. Shen Yun is a young but world-renown performance that seeks to awaken the virtues of Chinese culture through the art of dance and music. The performance will take place at a local Denver theater, the Ellie Caulkins Opera House.
Denver Shen Yun brings the study of grace, wisdom and virtues from 5 millennia of China before the Chinese Communist Party depleted these values from the Chinese culture. The Chinese highly valued virtue and sought to attain this through study and meditation from inner beauty and purity of the soul. Shen Yun brings Denver guests on a journey through history from the Himalayas to the tropics and touches on these values and how they changed through dance up to the period of Falun Dafa.
Each year new performances are crafted with new music and handmade costumes. Award-winning vocalists perform to piano, the two-stringed erhu (Chinese violin) and pipa. An orchestra that blends East and West will accompany the entire Denver performance. Add to this Denver theatre, animated backdrops and guests are taken to a transcendental world full of beauty and energy.
The costumes change with the changing dynasties, a favorite of fashion designers and everyone alike. Denver guests will also see the influence of Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism, the three philosophies that shaped much of China and the Middle Kingdom. Art is seen as a way to connect to the higher universe and Shen Yun covers classical and ethnic and folk dance in this exhilarating performance.
Shen Yun Performing Arts will be performing around the world and will only be in Denver for one day.
