“Colorado Girls” Parody a Colorado Hit

admin August 9, 2010 2

Katy Perry’s song “California Gurls” has certainly won a spot in most of our hearts – so much that Colorado residents decided to create a Colorado parody entitled “Colorado Girls.”

The “Colorado Girls” YouTube parody was written, directed and performed by Lauren Brady, Josh Greenwood and Ian Rice.  Two of them are graduated film students and the other a theater graduate.

This entertaining viral video has caught the eyes of Colorado because it features many popular landmarks and culture from Denver to Boulder.  Only someone who has lived in Colorado for a while would recognize certain topics such as Lakeside and American Furniture Warehouse.

In other parts of the song, it references typical fun Colorado outdoor activities and possibly the most memorable parts of Denver such as Water World and Casa Bonita.

Though a little crude at some parts, “Colorado Girls” does present very good insight into Colorado culture and iconic locations.  Watch it on YouTube for a fun and entertaining trip through Colorado. Watch it here!
